NEED

National Level review Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. Subhas Pani, IAS, Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India observed that the performance of SGSY across the country needs to be greatly improved and suggested that developmental functionaries should be trained with comprehensive skills for implementing the programme on a mission mode. The committee recommended renaming SGSY as National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) with effect from April 1, 2010. This underlines the need for equipping the programme implementing functionaries with knowledge about the programme. Keeping this in mind the National Institute of Rural Development, Guwahati is organising a programme on “Planning and Implementation of NRLM”.
